Projects

Part of the Mothers' Union's Mission is to help those whose family life has met with adversity. The London Diocese is involved in a number of projects at Diocesan and Branch level. We support Fairtrade and are involved in many worldwide projects of the Mothers' Union.

3C's Project Coffee Cake and Chat
Great Ormond Street Hospital

Every Tuesday, Mothers' Union membes provide coffee and homemade cakes in the Chapel at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children for parents, carers and staff.

This provides a place away from the atmosphere of the wards to relax and chat to someone about everyday things.

The Marylebone Project

Furnish and the Marylebone Project

Members of London Mothers' Union currently support two projects for the homeless by collecting household items.

The boxes provide essential items when the homeless begin new lives in their own home.

Holloway Prison

The London Diocese has been part of the life of the prison since 1993. Volunteers act as baby walkers, taking the babies out of the prison environment for short walks.

The branch within the prison meets every month.

Away From it All (AFIA)

The Away From it All scheme provides families and individuals whose lives have met with adversity with a much needed holiday.

Each request is dealt with through a selection process where needs are assessed.

Branch Projects

Mothers' Union branches throughout London are involved in projects that support their local communities.
These include:

  • Hospital feeding
  • Parent and Toddler Groups
  • Preparing emergency toilet bags for hospitals
  • Contact centres
  • Knitting blankets for premature baby units
